Hydro Engineering Institute Sarajevo and Dorsch International Consultants GmbH (Munich/Germany), as the lead firm of the partnership, are implementing the Project financed by KfW and SECO called “Feasibility Study for Water Supply and Sewage Disposal for Tuzla, Zenica and Travnik“. Project implementation started in January 2011 and is expected to be completed in January 2012.
The specific Project objectives can be summarised as follows:
The Feasibility Study shall identify investment measures to improve the water supply schemes and sewerage (stormwater) disposal systems in the 3 municipalities in order to increase the operational efficiency and the financial sustainability of the local water supply and sewerage systems.
Project implementation was structured in the three phases: I – Inception Phase, II – Programming Phase and III – Feasibility Study.
I Phase include: compilation of basic data, water balance and NRW calculation, definition of design criteria and assessment of existing infrastructure operations.
II Phase include: hydraulic models and calculations, elaboration of technical solutions and study variants for the water supply and waste water schemes, cost estimates (investments, O&M), identification of Best Practical Options, preparation of investment measures and their presentation at the Workshop, signing of Memorandum of Understanding regarding proposed measures and elaboration of the Draft Conceptual Engineering Report.
III Phase include: preparation of implementation schedules, development of short and mid-term sludge disposal strategies, estimation of risks, preparation of financing of implementation of Phase I, development of tariff and tariff structures, development of (Rapid) Environmental Impact Assessment.
Project is currently finalising Phase II and plan to start implementation of Phase III.
